Albert F. Burkhalter, Jr.
Partner
Albert has handled both criminal and civil cases in Rome and surrounding counties for more than 30 years. He has handled all types of criminal cases from murder to DUI. His civil practice includes personal injury, workers compensation, divorce, adoption and many other related types of cases. His experience includes wills, probate of estates, power of attorneys and living wills.
Albert is a life long resident of Floyd County and was raised and educated in Floyd County Schools.
Formal training includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Georgia State University in 1969, a Master of Arts Degree from West Georgia College in 1971 and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1979.
Albert is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Rome Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.
Albert is married to the former Sarah Vell Hames and they have three children: Tim, Mike and Terri.
Terri Burkhalter Pierce

Terri has focused her career in the area of Family Law and Domestic Litigation. She has practiced law in all courts in Floyd County and surrounding areas for 18 years and served as the Associate Juvenile Court Judge from 2001 to 2004.
Terri has concentrated her practice of law on the family unit and has assisted a multitude of clients in negotiating the emotional and often volatile terrain of divorce proceedings, juvenile matters, modifications of custody and support, contempt actions, paternity suits, cases involving guardian ad litems, psychologist custody evaluations, parental rights
termination cases, third party custody matters including grandparent visitation and custody cases. Terri also practices in the area of personal injury and auto accidents.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from John Marshall School of Law in 1993 and received the Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence by a Female Student. Terri received her B.A. in 1986 from the University of Georgia School of Journalism. She is a graduate of Leadership Rome, a former member and Chairperson of the Floyd County Child Fatality Review Committee, a member of the Rome Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. She is a former
member of the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia.
Currently, Terri serves on Darlington School’s Board of Trustees. Terri was past President of Darlington School’s Parent Teacher Organization and
President of the Parent’s Council. Terri is a member of Life Church in Rome.
Terri is married to Harry S. Pierce, Jr. and they reside in Lindale with their
daughter, Sara Jo.
Taylor Burkhalter Patterson
Partner
Taylor was born and raised in Rome, Georgia. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science from Kennesaw State University, where she majored in psychology and minored in criminal justice. She received her Juris Doctor
degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2019. During her law school career, Taylor worked as a law
clerk for the Floyd County Superior Court, where she gained invaluable experience working alongside the
judges. Taylor was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2019.
Currently, Taylor resides in Rome with her husband, Chase, and their three dogs.

Hunter M. Burkhalter
Partner
Hunter was born and raised in Rome, GA, and graduated from Pepperell High School in 2013. He then received his Associate's Degree in Political Science from Georgia Highlands College in 2015, and Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Kennesaw State University in 2017.
Hunter then attended Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, graduating with honors in 2020. While in law school, Hunter was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta mock trial team, where he was nominated as a top advocate. During his law school career, Hunter gained extensive experience assisting with complex personal injury and criminal defense cases from some of Atlanta's top law firms.
After years of working and honing his skills in several of Atlanta's top law firms, Hunter made the decision to bring his expertise back to his hometown of Rome, GA, where he joined The Burkhalter Firm as an attorney and partner in 2020.
